Modifiers of metals and alloys are substances, small doses of which significantly change the structure and properties of the metal or alloy processed by them. The effect of such processing is called modification.

Traditional materials for processing iron-carbon melts in ferrous metallurgy (steels and cast irons) are: all kinds of ferroalloys, silicon-based modifiers (silicocalcium, silicobarium, ferrosilicon), mixed modifiers (for example, based on silicon carbide, graphite, carbon, natural barium-strontium carbonates) and other types of modifiers and ferroalloys. Requirements for the quality and efficiency of modifiers for processing both steel and cast iron are constantly growing. In foundries, it is increasingly necessary to solve complex specific problems with guaranteed production of high quality castings. According to these requirements, our company produces or supplies unique highly specialized and complex modifiers for furnace, ladle and in-mold processing for the purpose of alloying, microalloying, desulfurization, deoxidation and inoculation of cast iron or steel.

Complex modifiers may include alkaline earth metals (ALM), such as magnesium, calcium, barium, strontium; rare earth metals (REM - cerium, lanthanum), graphitizing, carbide-forming, nitride-forming, alloying elements and auxiliary additives.
