Ferroalloys
Graphite and graphite electrodes
Ferrosilicon is a ferroalloy, the main components are iron and silicon. The ferrosilicon production process is based on the reduction of silica. Ferrosilicon is used as deoxidizing and alloying additives for the smelting of electrical, spring, corrosion and heat-resistant steels.

Ferrosilicon is supplied in pieces weighing no more than 25 kg, in ingots weighing no more than 45 kg and in the form crushed sifted particles. Particle size ranges and tolerances shall be as given in the following table (the mass of the under-size product is established for the point of delivery of the material to the buyer):

* Approximate values.
When producing ferrosilicon in ingots, the amount of fines passing through a sieve with 20x20 mm holes is should not exceed: 10% of the mass of the batch - for ferrosilicon grade FeSi75.
When producing ferrosilicon of all grades in pieces weighing up to 25 kg, the amount of fines passing through the sieve with holes 20x20 mm, should not exceed 10% of the batch weight.
For long-term storage, ferrosilicon is produced with an ingot thickness of no more than 100 mm when cast in one layer or no more than 150 mm thick when cast in two layers.
Ferrosilicon should not be contaminated with foreign materials. Individual inclusions of welded sand are allowed, traces of non-stick materials and graphite, as well as slag film.
